been a long time.
16 March 2008hey, it was pointed out to me the other day (by my good friend mr. damien mason) that i have not updated my website in a long long time... let it be known that it is not that i don't WANT to update my website.. every time i look at it i think about how the next version should look.. i have just not come up with a cohesive direction.. yet
anyway, so i am gonna update some news anyway as some pretty cool stuff has been going on recently:
1. another good friend of mine, illustrator and kickass designer dr. lyndsay meager has recently taken the plunge to start her own business; it's a date event design. what this means is that when you need someone to design those one-of a-kind invites (plus anything else you might need for that matter) for your next event you now have somewhere to go.
2. books. recently my work has been (or is soon to be) published in a few books, you can see nine of my logos in logolounge 4 and at least six (i am not exactly sure how many just yet.. but it was six at last count) in the new really good logos book which is coming out in may. also, getting away from logos for a while my website is featured in the new web design index 8 (also coming out in may) and my flamingos are gonna be in this years semi-permanent book. you could say i am a little excited. ;)
3. moving house. i am finally moving into a house on my own again and i can't wait. that is not to say that there was anything necessarily wrong with living with a housemate.. just that i am really looking forward to having my own space again. less than one week to go.. i only wish someone else would do the packing. :D

little red one.

today rowany (my daughter) and i set about designing a logo. rowany had decided that since i had a personal logo she should have a personal logo too. we went through numerous ideas but she decided that she would like to have a little red fox as her logo. anyway here is our first collaborative logo design "little red one"
incidentally the name "little red one" is one of the meanings of rowany's name - the other being "of the rowan tree".

Well, I have added a new print to my Etsy store today, it is an image of Ganesh that I have been working on for a while called 'The Protector'. You should check it out.

two great sites.
10 August 2007well i have just 'discovered' two great sites that i will definitely be adding to my bookmarks/linking to/having their urls tattooed on my body. (when i say discovered i of course mean that i have just seen them for the first time myself - i am sure other people have already seen them)
anyway i was just checking my web stats and noticed some traffic coming from www.webdesignerwall.com and www.designyoutrust.com and upon visiting them both i was pleasantly surprised.
design you trust is is a 'cool design weblog' and the design portfolio of designer dmitry utkin and there is some damn fine stuff linked there..
web designer wall is a brand spanking new site devoted to 'imagination, ideas, tutorials and web trends' not to mention it is simply beautiful to look at.
i can see myself spending a lot of time at these two sites.. maybe i will see you there.

02 August 2007well today i discovered that i have been listed on yet another css gallery site - this time it is cssprincess.com which in itself is pretty neat.. unless of course you know that cssprincess's purpose is to 'promote and support beautiful and interesting css sites made by a woman’s hand or woman’s touch.'.. yes that's right.. a woman's hand... hmm..
i can only conclude that because my first name is dale and that dale is a unisex name which is more commonly used as a female name in the US.. well it is not much of a stretch to make the assumption that i am female.. unless of course you know me ;)
anyway, it is quite an honour to be listed on the site (though i reckon that it won't be for much longer as i have sent them an email to let them know), and i advise you to go and check out what is a fantastic selection of sites designed by women (or blokes with girl's names ;))
